Notice of Privacy Practices
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was passed by Congress in 1996 and included provisions instructing the Department of Health and Human Services to issue rules to improve the administration and delivery of Health Care to the public. One of the rules issued included standards for the protection of an individual's health information.
The County of Sonoma is also committed to protecting the privacy of Health Information. In our Notice of Privacy Practices we address how we handle individually identifiable health information.
Questions or concerns can be referred to the County of Sonoma Privacy Office at (707) 565-5703 or email DHS-Privacy&Security@Sonoma-County.org.
