Know your rent protection rights

Sonoma County held a webinar this week to inform the public about the new renter protection rights that have been enacted by the Board of Supervisors, including prohibiting landlords from evicting tenants for nonpayment unless more than one month of rent is overdue, prohibiting evictions during a declared emergency, and requiring landlords to provide tenants with information about their rights in English and Spanish when asking a tenant to vacate.

Webinar participants included the Sonoma County Counsel’s Office and Legal Aid of Sonoma County talking about the new protections and answering questions. If you missed the webinar, you can still watch it on the County’s Facebook page and on YouTube.

Future outreach about the tenant protections includes in-person town halls in West Sonoma County, the Sonoma Valley and the Roseland area this winter.
