County responds to the Homelessness Crisis at the Joe Rodota Trail
Published: December 18, 2019
The County of Sonoma continues to work to find solutions to the homelessness crisis at the Joe Rodota Trail.
Following direction from the Board of Supervisors, the County activated a Joint Operations Center (JOC) to expedite response and planning to address this crisis. We are working with subject matter experts, regional partners, and community groups to develop plans for an adequate and viable way to move forward. Recommended actions will be presented at a special Board meeting on Monday, December 23, at 9:00 a.m. in the Board chambers.
On Tuesday, December 17, the Board of Supervisors received a report from staff with options to address the crisis, adopted a resolution proclaiming a Homeless Emergency on the Joe Rodota Trail, and authorized $25,000 for the Community Development Commission to continue enhanced outreach to individuals living along the trail. The December 23 meeting will be live streamed for the public. We will be posting updates as they become available.
