Fee Payment
The fee may be paid by check or most credit cards. Check the website for the current fee.
Specimen Submission
- Please fill out the paper lab slip (PDF: 175 kB) completely. Email address, date of birth, and phone number are necessary for reporting.
Setup Days
Specimens are processed Thursday mornings. Please submit your tick by the end of business on Wednesday to ensure your tick is included. Testing schedule may be impacted by holidays.
Results
If your tick is positive, you will be notified via telephone by the end of business on Friday.
For all results, you will receive an email with a secure link to the result report.

Methodology
Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA)
Specimen Storage
Place tick in a re-sealable plastic bag with a damp cotton ball or paper towel. Double-bag specimens sent via US mail.
Specimen Transport
Please address mailed ticks to Sonoma County Public Health Laboratory, 3313 Chanate Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95404. In person drop-off is available Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:45pm.
