Sonoma County ‘Department of Public Infrastructure’ made official in merger of Transportation and Public Works and General Services
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today officially approved a new department name, Public Infrastructure, to reflect the consolidation of the county General Services and Transportation and Public Works departments. The name of the newly formed Department of Public Infrastructure or Pi, which will comprise the various divisions and operational areas of the former departments, was chosen based on input from county employees. This week, Sonoma County Airport Express will begin shuttle services to passengers flying in and out of the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS). The current pick-up and drop-off locations that customers have used when traveling to San Francisco and Oakland International Airports will now also be used to offer a convenient, comfortable and affordable ride to fly local at STS. Board of Supervisors approves funding for ‘fare-free’ public transit for college students, local routes 28 and 32

The County of Sonoma Department of Transportation and Public Works today announced the department has received a $74,000 grant from the California Department of Water Resources to install smart meters for the water system serving approximately 128 connections in the community of Jenner by the Sea. Charles M. Schulz — Sonoma County Airport hosts local leaders, officials for ‘Topping Off’ of modernized terminal building
County of Sonoma leaders and officials with the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport were joined by Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, Rep. Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, and other local elected officials today for a special ‘Topping Off’ ceremony to finalize the structural framework of the airport’s modernized terminal building. The traditional construction trade “Builder’s Rite” celebration marks the placement of a signed steel beam that is part of the final structure’s framing for the modernized airport terminal, part of an overall $40,000,000 expansion project. The County of Sonoma has partnered with ForeFront Power, a leading developer and asset manager of commercial and industrial-scale solar energy and storage projects, to build a 963 kilowatt (kW) solar energy portfolio at Charles M.
