Board of Supervisors approves project scope and next steps for proposed Sonoma County Government Center
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a project scope and next steps for construction of a 200,000-square-foot government center to be located on the current County campus site in Santa Rosa. The action steps, unanimously approved by the Board, call for a one-tower $308 million government center, which would house between 800 and 1,000 employees, as well as redevelopment space to include up to 1,000 housing units. Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport set to perform storm culvert and runway upgrades on June 24
The Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport will refurbish a section of runway pavement and replace a deteriorating culvert on Monday, June 24. The work will be completed over 20 hours including nighttime work and is expected to cost $667,115. The permanent repair project is being coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration, which has oversight of safety and operations at the regional airfield, to mitigate any possible impacts to the traveling public. The Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport was ranked fourth among the top 10 winners of the 2024 Newsweek Readers' Choice Awards contest for best small airport in the United States. A total of 15 airports were nominated by a panel of travel experts and Newsweek contributors. The final list was determined by Newsweek editors and votes were cast over the past month by the magazine’s readers. Read full story
Board of Supervisors authorizes storm culvert, runway repair at Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved plans to refurbish a section of runway pavement and replace a deteriorating culvert at Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport. County officials have been monitoring the runway following an annual inspection by the Federal Aviation Administration, which identified the need for repairs. In response, airport officials took immediate proactive measures to seal the affected areas to prevent further deterioration. Read full story
Sonoma County announces 2024 paving and construction season, encourages road users to plan ahead, follow detours and go slow
The Sonoma County Department of Public Infrastructure today announced the Summer 2024 road resurfacing program will soon get underway with pavement treatment on nearly 30 miles of road segments across 45 separate county-maintained roads. Residents who live near project sites will be notified by county contractors in advance of the start of work. All impacted road users are asked to plan ahead, follow signage for detours and slowdown in the vicinity of work crews. Read full story
Charles M Schulz – Sonoma County Airport to undergo training exercise on Thursday
On April 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport will be conducting its Triennial Emergency Response Exercise, a practical exercise and safety training that takes place every three years at commercial service airports across the United States. Mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration, the training exercise is a comprehensive mass-casualty event simulation that tests the planning, operational readiness, speed, and effectiveness of emergency personnel in real-time. Alaska Airlines adds direct flights from Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport to Las Vegas
Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport today announced that Alaska Airlines will add nonstop service from Sonoma County Airport to Las Vegas. The daily, year-round flight, which starts Oct. 1, is Alaska Airlines’ seventh nonstop destination from Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. By this fall, Alaska will operate 13 peak day departures, including nonstop service to Los Angeles, Burbank, Orange County, Seattle, Portland, San Diego and Las Vegas. Read full story
Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport to replace storm culvert, refurbish sections of pavement at regional airfield
The Sonoma County Department of Public Infrastructure today announced plans to refurbish a section of runway pavement and replace a deteriorating culvert following an annual inspection and report issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA, which has oversight of safety and operations at the regional airfield, conducts annual audits at all active airports with airline service in the United States to ensure compliance with federal safety regulations and provides a checklist of required improvements.
