What Does the Junior Commission Do?
The Junior Commissioner Project is structured around project-based learning and participation. Juniors break into groups to learn more about specific issues facing women and girls today, and create a community service-related project to accompany this learning. Projects in the past have included drawing more girls into the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) fields; conducting media and computer workshops to residents of assisted living facilities; and educating peers on the existence of human trafficking in Sonoma County.
2025 Career Panel
The Junior Commissioner Project hosted their 2025 career panel on March 9, 2025. They had four speakers: lauren Ornales, Gina Fortino Dickson, Letitia Hanke, and Supervisor Rebecca Hermosillo. The speakers inspired the Junior Commissioners to take chances on their career paths. To not be afraid of saying yes and to not go against their values in the process.
