Probation staff recently attended the Special Olympics Unified Track and Field Meet at Windsor High School where they supported and cheered on the student athletes during their events. The celebrations continued after the meet when athletes went through a tunnel of local law enforcement personnel for congratulations and high fives! There were approximately 200 student athletes in attendance.

Probation team running in Special Olympics race eventIn June, Probation raised money and participated in the 2023 Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics. LETR features more than 3,500 law enforcement personnel from hundreds of local agencies carrying the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope,” a symbol of courage and diversity to champion acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, throughout Northern California. Probation’s team raised $1,674 for the Special Olympics this year! Thank you to the Sheriff's Office for including us and coordinating the event.

Special Olympics Northern California offers free year-round sports training and competitions for more than 27,000 participants along with inclusive schools initiatives, critical health and wellness programs and leadership training.
