Board of Supervisors to hold special October 14 meeting on budget impacts
SANTA ROSA, CA | October 08, 2025
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold a special evening meeting on Oct. 14 to inform the community about how recent federal actions may impact the County budget and services. In the meeting, County officials and partner agencies will review the anticipated local impacts from executive orders, changes to grant requirements, and the budgetary and policy bill H.R. 1. This meeting is designed to enhance the community’s awareness and assist in preparing for the changes.
What: Special meeting of the Board of Supervisors
When: Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 4:30 p.m.
Where: Board Chambers, 575 Administration Drive, 102A, Santa Rosa
Why: To inform the community about estimated service impacts and begin the planning process to mitigate impacts
“Make no mistake, the draconian budget cuts and benefit requirements that are coming from the federal government will have a huge impact locally,” said Supervisor Lynda Hopkins, chair of the Board of Supervisors. “We need to be ready with a plan as we prepare our budgets going forward. The first step in that process is to take stock of all of the impacts.”
The meeting will include presentations outlining the impacts to the County’s programs and services, upcoming fiscal plans, and a federal fiscal risk assessment of the FY 2025-26 federal funds included in the County’s budget. In addition, the review will include an overview of the legal efforts the County has joined against the federal government. Other presentations will include an update on safety net service changes for nutrition and housing programs and Medicaid benefits. Community organizations will present on impacts to education, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights, nonprofit partners, and federally qualified health centers.
