Disability Justice
The Committee on Disability Justice will address essential needs for residents of Sonoma County living with disabilities, particularly those experiencing hardship due to limited institutional accommodations (such as in special education and disability resources programs) and looming public health issues. In this capacity, the Committee will advocate for health and disability-conscious policy to the Board of Supervisors. The Committee will also see to the provision of basic resources such as quality masks and print literature in designated public spaces to raise public awareness around disability justice in collaboration with the Sonoma County Health Services Department and public health issues- particularly gaps in public knowledge surrounding long COVID. Whereappropriate, the Committee will interface with other aspects of the Commission on Human Rights to best address intersectional issues. Lastly, the Committee will document and compile a list of suggestions.
