Sonoma County Historical Records Commission to recognize three at Collections and Archives ceremony
The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission today announced three recipients of its fourth annual Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. These awards recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections, or archives located within Sonoma County and focus on existing collections as well as recognizing special efforts to preserve and use archival material in promoting history and cultural preservation. Board of Supervisors approves plan to separate Registrar of Voters from other elected duties
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved the first step of a proposal to create a new department to oversee local elections, bringing Sonoma County inline with most other counties in the state. Under the plan, the Board would appoint a Registrar of Voters to run the department. Read full story

Deadline for voters to ‘cure’ ballot signature issues is December 2 at 5 p.m.
Signature “cure” forms that were sent to voters whose Nov. 5 General Election ballot envelope signatures were either missing or mismatched must be completed and received at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office no later than Monday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m., according to Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters. Sonoma County to host Apostille Pop-Up Shop event on November 14
The Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor’s Office is hosting officials from the California Secretary of State’s Office for an Apostille Pop-Up Shop on Thursday, November 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m at their offices located at 585 Fiscal Dr., Room 103, in Santa Rosa. Read full story

Early in-person voting expands this weekend for November 5 General Election
Early in-person voting for the Nov. 5 General Election will expand this weekend in Sonoma County, Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto reminded the public today. Twenty-four vote centers will open Saturday, joining seven that have been open since Saturday, Oct. 26, for a total of 31. Voters can cast their ballots at any Vote Center in the county; they are not assigned to a specific location. Read full story

Nominations open for the 2024 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards in Sonoma County
The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission is now accepting nominations for their 2024 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. This award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections and archives located within Sonoma County. Nominees located within the boundaries of Sonoma County and practicing the collection and preservation of historical records for the promotion of history and cultural preservation qualify for the award. Early in-person voting begins this weekend for November 5 General Election
Early in-person voting for the November 5 General Election will begin this weekend in Sonoma County, Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto reminded voters today. Seven Vote Centers will be open for 11 consecutive days from Saturday, October 26 to Election Day, Tuesday, November 5. Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Election Day itself when the hours will be extended from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Read full story

Standard deadline to register to vote in November 5 General Election is October 21
The standard deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 5 General Election is Oct. 21, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto reminded residents today. However, eligible voters who miss this deadline still have the option to “conditionally register and vote” in person through Election Day at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office or at any Vote Center. Ballots to be mailed out next week for November 5 General Election
Vote-by-Mail ballots for the Nov. 5 General Election will begin going out Monday, Oct. 7, to all active, registered voters in Sonoma County, according to Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters. The ballots are expected to take between three and 10 days to arrive. Read full story

County voter guides for November General Election begin going out in the mail tomorrow
County Voter Information Guides for the Nov. 5 General Election will begin going out in the mail tomorrow, Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor-Registrar of Voters, announced today. The County Guides will be mailed to all active, registered voters in Sonoma County, with the exception of voters who have opted out of receiving such mailings. Read full story
