For Immediate Release
Deadline for voters to ‘cure’ ballot signature issues is December 2 at 5 p.m.
SANTA ROSA, CA | November 26, 2024
Signature “cure” forms that were sent to voters whose Nov. 5 General Election ballot envelope signatures were either missing or mismatched must be completed and received at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office no later than Monday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m., according to Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters.
Every presidential election, County staff devote hundreds of hours to checking signatures on ballot envelopes. Each voter whose ballot envelope is missing a signature or has a signature that does not sufficiently compare to one in their voter file is sent a signature “cure” form. If the form is filled out, signed, and received by the aforementioned deadline, and the new signature compares to one in their voter file, then the ballot is considered “cured,” meaning it will be counted and included in the official certified election results.
There are four main ways that a voter can return a signature cure form:
- Scan it or take a picture of it and send it as an email attachment to rov-ubs@sonoma-county.org
- Fax it to (707) 565-6862
- Place it in the drop box located in front of the main ROV office (the drop box will be open 24/7 until Dec. 2 at 5 p.m.)
- Mail it to PO Box 11485, Santa Rosa, CA 95406 (not recommended at this time since it must be received by Dec. 2)
Voters with a missing or challenged signature who lost or did not receive a signature cure form can download and print it by going to SoCoVotes.com, scrolling down to the “November 5, 2024, General Election” section, and clicking on the Signature Cure Form (Bilingual) link under the “Signature Cures” heading.
The Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office is located at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa. Standard office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays (excluding County holidays). Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the office will be closed from Thursday, Nov. 28, to Sunday, Dec. 1. However, voters can still place signature cure forms in the drop box located in front of the main ROV office.
