Injury & Illness Prevention Program

The IIPP forms the framework and foundation of an employer’s safety and health program and demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of employees. OSHA expects that through an effective IIPP, an organization will be more productive and have fewer losses due to injuries or illnesses.

All employees are entitled to a safe and healthy workplace. California OSHA makes sure of this by requiring every employer to develop a written program that:

• Identifies a responsible person(s) for the implementation and management of safety and health programs
• Outlines the processes and tools the employer provides for employees to comply
• Describes the methods used to communicate safe work practices to employees and other affected persons, and
• Provides ways for identifying and evaluating workplace hazards and ways to manage or reduce those hazards
• System to communicate and train employees on workplace hazards and appropriate response
