The County of Sonoma is issuing a freeze warning in response to the National Weather Service’s prediction of sub-freezing temperatures overnight tonight and possibly through Sunday morning. Sonoma County Board of Supervisors receives five-year fiscal forecast
Sonoma County is projecting a General Fund deficit of $13 million during the 2024-25 fiscal year with more annual deficits to follow through 2025, Deputy County Administrator Peter Bruland informed the Board of Supervisors as part of his five-year fiscal forecast Tuesday. The projection is based on an anticipated decrease in property tax growth, reductions in one-time funding, and an increase in pension costs due to investment declines in pension funds. Sonoma County campus to be illuminated green in support of National Veterans Awareness Week
To honor veterans across the nation, the Sonoma County Administration Center and several other government buildings will be illuminated with green lights from Nov. 7 to Nov. 13 as part of Operation Green Light, a public awareness campaign in observation of National Veterans Awareness Week. Sonoma County kicks off safety communications campaign with November 4 webinar
County officials and community partners are inviting the public to take part in a webinar on Friday, November 4 at 3:30 p.m. as part of a new safety communications informational campaign. The webinar will focus on emergency communication with an emphasis on when the public should call 911 and when they should use 211, the county’s information line. Read full story

Sonoma County to host Induction Cooking Expo
The County of Sonoma’s Climate Action and Resiliency Division is set to host an Induction Cooking Expo in Santa Rosa on Saturday, Sept. 24 to highlight the environmental benefits of using electromagnetism to heat pots and pans. Board of Supervisors approve community engagement and language access agreements
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today took the first steps in developing language access and community engagement plans to ensure broader involvement with county government by members of all communities. Using $710,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds, the Board on Tuesday approved agreements with two consultants to work with the county’s Office of Equity in developing a language access plan, a community engagement plan, and policy recommendations for all county departments. County of Sonoma awarded up to $10 million by USDA for multi-agency climate project
The Natural Resources Conservation Service, within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, announced its selection of the County of Sonoma for a tentative award through the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities funding opportunity. The project, titled Sonoma Marin Ag and County Climate Coalition, represents a large partnership effort across multiple organizations from both Sonoma and Marin counties, with the County of Sonoma acting as the lead entity.
