Sonoma County achieves record-high net assessment roll of more than $127 billion
Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor Deva Marie Proto announced today that the county’s net assessment roll has reached an all-time high of $127,016,463,045. This marks a 5.44 percent increase compared to last year’s assessment roll, reflecting the value of all real and business property in Sonoma County as of Jan. 1. The 2025-26 assessment roll has been officially delivered to the Sonoma County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector. Read full story

The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission today announced three recipients of its fourth annual Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. These awards recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections, or archives located within Sonoma County and focus on existing collections as well as recognizing special efforts to preserve and use archival material in promoting history and cultural preservation. Board of Supervisors approves plan to separate Registrar of Voters from other elected duties
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved the first step of a proposal to create a new department to oversee local elections, bringing Sonoma County inline with most other counties in the state. Under the plan, the Board would appoint a Registrar of Voters to run the department. Read full story

Nominations open for the 2024 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards in Sonoma County
The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission is now accepting nominations for their 2024 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. This award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections and archives located within Sonoma County. Nominees located within the boundaries of Sonoma County and practicing the collection and preservation of historical records for the promotion of history and cultural preservation qualify for the award. Sonoma County’s net assessment roll has hit an all-time high of $114,485,345,311, which represents an increase of 5.68 percent over last year’s assessment. The roll amount, which Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor Deva Marie Proto delivered to the Sonoma County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office last week, reflects the value of all real and business property in Sonoma County as of Jan. 1, 2023.
