Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino County Partner to Create a Cleaner Coast
Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties are launching a coordinated campaign to provide visitor education and outreach to reduce the amount of litter and waste in coastal regions and watersheds through a three-County memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the non-profit organization Leave No Trace.The ongoing partnership includes coordination with federal and state agencies, federally recognized tribes, non-federally recognized tribes, local jurisdictions and land managers, Sonoma County Tourism, and other community-based groups across all three counties. Climate Resilient Lands Strategy released for public input
Sonoma County’s Climate Action and Resiliency Division and Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District today released the Sonoma County Climate Resilient Lands Strategy, a document designed to provide structure and guidance to climate-related efforts throughout the county, with a focus on natural and working lands. Alongside the full draft strategy, an Overview and Critical Concepts document is also available, which offers a summary of the full strategy alongside key excerpts. Comments can be made on either document. The Overview and Critical Concepts document has also been translated into Spanish. Read full story
Permit Sonoma Fire Prevention announces open burning suspension for unincorporated Sonoma County
Permit Sonoma Fire Prevention Division announced today a ban on the burning of residential landscape debris in unincorporated Sonoma County. The ban aligns with a burn suspension announced by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), which began on June 13 for all outdoor burning in state responsibility areas of Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Solano, Yolo and Colusa counties. Board of Supervisors workshop scheduled July 19 for public input on evacuation zone access policy
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public workshop beginning at 8:45 a.m. during its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 19 to collect input toward possible development of an evacuation zone agricultural and livestock access program. Read full story
Public hearings on 2022-23 county budget to begin June 14
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold annual budget hearings beginning Tuesday, June 14 at 8:30 a.m. The hearings will be streamed live, and the public will have an opportunity to provide input each day regarding the recommended 2022-2023 fiscal year operating plan. At the conclusion of the budget hearings, the board will adopt a final budget to serve as the strategic operating plan for Fiscal Year 2022-23. Read full story
Sonoma Water board approves study of lower Russian River wastewater treatment options
