SoCoAlert emergency alert exercise in northwest Sonoma County on Thursday
Thursday, Sonoma County will be conducting a test of the SoCoAlert emergency notification system at noon in northwest Sonoma County. The County Department of Emergency Management and partners have collaborated on planning the exercise and conducting outreach in the targeted areas. Testing the efficiency of messaging to Spanish speaking residents was a priority for the exercise planners. Read full story
Sonoma County issues freeze alert
The County of Sonoma is issuing a freeze alert in response to the National Weather Service’s prediction of sub-freezing temperatures overnight tonight through Sunday morning. Officials recommend that residents limit time outdoors as serious medical conditions including hypothermia and frostbite can develop with prolonged exposure to cold weather. Read full story
Graton disaster fair April 1 to provide emergency preparedness and planning resources
The Graton Fire Protection District, in collaboration with the Sonoma County Department of Emergency Management and Jody James, L.Ac., will host a disaster preparedness fair with interactive activities for adults, seniors and children on April 1 at the Graton Fire Department, 3750 Gravenstein Highway North, in Sebastopol. Defendant Robert Jacob, 46, formerly of Sebastopol, California was sentenced today by the Honorable John A. Behnke to seven years in prison for six felony offenses involving sexual misconduct with a minor. Read full story
