Board of Supervisors Dedicates $13.5 Million for Roads

Press Release  On Tuesday, November 10th, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved new one-time funding that will help build approximately 100 miles of new roads. The Board added $13.5 million of funding, which brings the total general fund contribution to roads to a record $25 million. New roads projects will be selected in 2016 and built in 2017. The Board also reinforced their commitment to stable, ongoing funding by indexing the annual general fund contribution toward road repair by up to 2% annually. Read full story

CDPH Issues Warning about Dungeness and Rock Crabs Caught in Waters Along the Central and Northern California Coast

The California Department of Public Health today advised consumers not to eat Dungeness and Rock crabs caught in waters between the Oregon border and the southern Santa Barbara County line, due to the detection of dangerous levels of domoic acid, a naturally occurring toxin. Read full story

Their stated goals include increasing awareness of the need to adequately save for retirement and the variety of ways to accomplish this. A number of free workshops will be made available to employees during National Save for Retirement Week as part of Sonoma County’s efforts to increase employee retirement savings and improve financial literacy. Topics covered will include using your 457/401a deferred compensation program to help reach savings goals, an overview of retiree health plan benefits, how to get the most out of your Social Security benefit, and understanding the basics of your Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association membership.
