Survey to Explore Farmers' Perception and Behavior Towards Climate Change
Farmers, ranchers, and growers are invited to participate in a short online survey to capture their expertise in facing climate effects in water management and crop production, while asking for implemented adaptation measures and observed barriers. The survey is anonymous and can be filled via mobile phone and computer. It is available in English and Spanish, and the response time is no more than 10-12 minutes. Read full story

2024 Point Fire Agricultural Crop Damage Assessment Form
The Sonoma County Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures (AWM) is conducting a preliminary data capture to evaluate potential damage and/or loss sustained during the June 2024 Point Fire in Sonoma County. AWM may contact the reporting party for additional information. Data collected is for AGRICULTURAL CROP RELATED damage and/or loss only. All information is confidential. This information will be used to compile a damage assessment report for Sonoma County in order to qualify Sonoma County for possible federal assistance. Read full story

Agricultural Pass Program activated
The Agricultural Pass Program is activated. People with a valid Ag Pass may enter Zone SON-2E2 (Dry Creek Valley) to conduct approved agricultural activities. Be sure to present your ag pass to the peace officer staffing the road closure and follow his/her instructions. Program rules and FAQs are on the County Ag Commissioner website. Read full story

What You Need to Know about Oriental Fruit Fly Quarantines in Bay Area Counties
Attention wineries and processing facilities: Seven male oriental fruit flies were recently discovered near Brentwood and Oakley in east Contra Costa County, and eight male oriental fruit flies were discovered in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale in Santa Clara County, prompting extensive delimitation surveys and eradication plans in response. Agricultural Pesticide Collection and Disposal Event – Pre-Registration Form (Napa, Sonoma and Marin Counties)
The Napa, Sonoma, and Marin County Agricultural Commissioner’s Offices are reaching out to gauge interest in a regional pesticide collection event that will provide our commercial operations with an opportunity to dispose of their unwanted pesticides for free (no home-use products will be accepted). This is a collaborative effort with all costs related to hosting the event and disposal of collected pesticides being covered by US Environmental Protection Agency, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, and the three participating counties’ Ag Departments. 2023 European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) Detection Trapping Begins
This is the time of year that the Sonoma County Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures (AWM), ramps up our pest detection and trapping programs. Starting March 1, 2023, we will once again deploy detection traps for European Grapevine Moth (EGVM). Trap counts and trapping densities have been reduced, but commercial vineyards will continue to be monitored. Read full story
