Public Notice: Solid Waste Management Program Local Enforcement Agency (LEA)
The Sonoma County Environmental Health Section, Solid Waste Management Program, acting as the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) is certified by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within its jurisdiction. The Global Material Recovery Facility operates under a Solid Waste Facility Permit issued by the LEA. The operator has filed an application for a Solid Waste Facility Permit Modification with the LEA. Read full story
Former foster youth in Sonoma County to receive $148,000 in scholarships for higher education

Nomination period opens for Nov. 7, 2023 Consolidated Election
Candidate nominations open on Monday, July 17, for various special district offices scheduled for election on Nov. 7, 2023. Candidates residing in Sonoma County who are interested in running for one of the more than 20 available positions must file nomination papers between July 17 and August 11 to have their names placed on the Nov. 7 ballot, according to Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto. Supervisors approve funding for Petaluma Veterans Building maintenance project
The Veterans Memorial Building in Petaluma will get a new roof, seismic upgrades and other improvements thanks to a $1.9 million construction contract approved by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today. The 64-year-old veterans building serves as a key community meeting space in Petaluma as well as an emergency evacuation center. Read full story
