Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport to replace storm culvert, refurbish sections of pavement at regional airfield
The Sonoma County Department of Public Infrastructure today announced plans to refurbish a section of runway pavement and replace a deteriorating culvert following an annual inspection and report issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA, which has oversight of safety and operations at the regional airfield, conducts annual audits at all active airports with airline service in the United States to ensure compliance with federal safety regulations and provides a checklist of required improvements. Board of Supervisors unanimously approves resolution declaring racism as a public health crisis
By a unanimous 5-0 vote, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a resolution proposed by the Department of Health Services declaring racism to be a public health crisis. Read full story
Public invited to comment on upcoming Environmental Impact Statement for Koi Nation casino project
The U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs is now accepting public comments on an upcoming Environmental Impact Statement for the Koi Nation of Northern California’s proposed casino resort project southeast of Windsor. Read full story
Public Notice: Solid Waste Management Program Local Enforcement Agency (LEA)
The Sonoma County Environmental Health Section, Solid Waste Management Program, acting as the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) is certified by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within its jurisdiction. The Central Transfer/Processing Facility operates under a Solid Waste Facility Permit issued by the LEA. The operator has filed an application for a RFI amendment with the LEA. The RFI describes the design and operation of the facility. Read full story

Sonoma County to host third job and resource fair for homeless on March 20 in Santa Rosa
Sonoma County Job Link and community partners will host the county’s third job and resource fair for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless on March 20 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Garrett Building at the northeast corner of the fairgrounds, located at 1450 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa. Read full story

Board of Supervisors set to discuss declaring racism as a public health crisis
Preparing to join hundreds of cities and counties across the United States, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors at its March 12 meeting will consider adopting a resolution declaring racism as a public health crisis. Naming racism as a health crisis and committing to eliminate it within Sonoma County is considered another important step on the path to equity. Read full story
Proposed Fee Changes 2024-2025
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors are conducting consolidated fee hearings on March 26, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers located at 575 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa. The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures is proposing fee increases for the Agriculture, Land Stewardship, and Weights & Measures divisions. Read full story
